Our Private Pilot Training Program is based on the regulations established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) yet individualized for each student. FAA regulations require the following:

  • Be at least 17 years of age
  • Read, write, and understand the English language fluently
  • Obtain the appropriate FAA medical certificate
  • Comply with all U.S. flight and ground school requirements to obtain certificates and ratings┬ádesired

Aeronautical Experience

A minimum of 40 hours of flight time is required which includes:

  • 20 hours of flight training from an instructor
    • Three hours of cross-country training
    • Three hours of instrument training
    • Three hours of night training, including
      • One cross-country of at least 100nm total distance
      • Ten takeoffs and landings
    • 10 hours of solo flight time, including:
      • Five hours solo cross-country, which must also include:
        • One solo cross-country of at least 150nm total distance with a landing at a minimum of three points
      • Ten takeoffs and landings at an airport with an operating control tower
    • The remaining time is at the discretion of the flight instructor and the student
