Certified Flight Instructor
The Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) Certificate is required in order to teach others to fly. Once
you become a CFI, you will be able to train individuals from student level to instructor as well
as give flight reviews and checkouts. As a CFI applicant you will learn from scenarios based
on real world experiences, receive specialized training in spin recovery procedures and stalls
in various configurations and situations. During your course of training you will also become
proficient teaching ground lessons and flight lessons from the right seat. This is most likely
your first aviation career.
Requirements
•
Be at least 18 years of age.
•
Be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
•
Hold either a Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
•
Accumulate and log a specified amount of flight time from an authorized instructor.
•
Receive a logbook endorsement from an authorized instructor for stall awareness, spin entry and recovery.
•
Pass FAA Fundamental of Instructing Written Knowledge Test.
•
Pass FAA Flight Instructor Airplane Written Knowledge Test.
•
Pass an FAA Practical Test. (Oral and Flight)
